Війна за Незалежність України розпочалася у 2014 році і вийшла на новий рівень у 2022-му. Росія прагне ліквідувати нашу державність, стерти українську ідентичність, поставити під сумнів саме право українців на існування, фізично й ментально нас знищити. Це не просто збройний конфлікт. Це екзистенційна війна за право бути.
Представлений виставковий проєкт про війну в реальному часі, в якому концептуально поєднуються дві складові частини – вшанування пам’яті полеглих та боротьби, що триває. Експозиція висвітлює головні події та персоналії сучасної російсько-української війни, фіксуючи історію, яка ще не завершилась.
На виставці представлено особисті речі та нагороди військових, зразки зброї, фрагменти боєприпасів, трофеї та ілюстративні матеріали. Частину експозиції складають меморіальні комплекси бійців – індивідуальні долі наших полеглих земляків, вписані у контекст великої війни. Поєднання мілітарних предметів та особистих речей з цивільного життя показує людський вимір цієї війни.
Виставка стала результатом спільних зусиль команди музею, військовослужбовців ЗСУ, волонтерів, громадських діячів та родин полеглих. Разом ми розповідаємо про становлення новітнього українського війська та про ціну, яку український народ платить за свою незалежність.
Пам’ять – це не лише данина минулому. Це фундамент, на якому стоїть майбутнє. Музей сьогодні, як ніколи раніше, стає творцем смислів: зберігаючи те, що гідне бути переданим наступним поколінням, він творить українську політику пам’яті й зміцнює те, що ніяка зброя не може знищити, – національну ідентичність.
Exhibition «Ukraine. The Flame of War»

Ukraine’s War of Independence began in 2014 and reached another level in 2022. Russia has been struggling to destroy our statehood, erase Ukrainian identity and question the mere right of the Ukrainian people to exist. Russia aims to kill us physically and mentally. This is not a simple war. This is the existential conflict for the right to be.
The exhibition project presents a real-time war. Its concept combines two component parts: commemoration of those who was killed in action and our fight that keeps on. The exhibition brings the main events and persons of the continuing Russo-Ukrainian war to light. It is a live record of the history which isn’t over yet.
The exhibits include personal items and military awards of the Forces personnel, different kinds of weaponry, ammunition fragments, trophies, and illustrative matter. Also, a meaningful part of the exhibition is reflected in the individual histories of our deceased warriors whose lives were contextualised by the big war. Together with personal relics of civil life, these military items highlight the human aspect of this war.
This exhibition has been brough to life by combined efforts and joint team of the museum workers, service people of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, volunteers, civil activists and the families of those who died in this war. Together, we tell you the story how the modern Ukrainian army was established and the toll of Independence War inflicted upon Ukrainian people.
Memory doesn’t contribute to the past exclusively. Also, it’s the foundation of our future. Today, museums create new senses and preserve what’s worth passing on to the following generations as never before. Museums create the commemorative policies of Ukraine and strengthen our national identity, which is something that no weapon can ruin whatsoever.
People reassess the value of life and freedom in such places. The preservation of such locations enables us to exchange our experiences and teach young generations. Every object, every wall or square, every witness’s words contribute to the overall narrative. These places help us understand the scope of events and their impact on people.
